In the face of climate change, sustainable features have been increasingly integrated into building design. In office and multi-residential buildings, this is often done by reducing energy usage. Producing energy through solar panels or wind turbines on the building is another common approach. Other practices include collecting rainwater for use in the building, and using low-flow water fixtures that reduce water consumption.

Even power plants can be made to be more eco-friendly. A power plant in CopenHagen converts waste to clean energy. It also features a ski slope on the roof.
