Salesforce has recently built a 1,070 foot building in San Francisco – the tallest building west of the Mississippi. In my mind and after many visits, I always visualize the city as very low rise compared to New York or Toronto, by design and by necessity. This new tower is visible from almost everywhere and greatly changes the look of San Fran. It cannot be ignored. As this article states “a ceiling has been breached” and raises questions as to the future of the landscape in San Francisco.
Traditionally, the city has been a shipping and manufacturing centre. Now, the focus is largely on tech. Companies such as Salesforce, Amazon, eBay and Intuit are moving in, and many non-tech companies are moving elsewhere.
